Freeborn & Peters LLP Participates in Rebuilding Together Metro*Chicago's Give Back Day

Freeborn & Peters gathered their attorneys, staff, friends, and family to volunteer for the firm’s 8th annual Rebuilding Together event which was held on Saturday, April 24th 2010.  The firm is a proud supporter of Rebuilding Together * Metro Chicago which is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to improve the homes and neighborhoods of elderly, disabled and low-income residents so that they may continue to live in warmth, safety and comfort.

This year, Freeborn & Peters sponsored four nonprofit organizations - Smart Love Parenting, China Kids, Menomonee Club, and Smarty Pants Are Leaders - all housed in the same not-for-profit Learning Center located in Chicago’s Buena Park neighborhood. The Freeborn & Peters volunteers dedicated their time and expertise to improve the Learning Center both inside and out. The end result consisted of the installation of 49 new light fixtures, new landscaping for the learning garden, new kitchen oven, freshly painted classrooms, and a computer lab containing 45 donated computers.

Kathryn C. Thomas, a Partner in Freeborn & Peters’ Litigation Practice Group, has served on the Board of Directors for Rebuilding Together * Metro Chicago for the past 15 years and is currently the Vice President – National Liaison.  Kathryn leads and organizes the firm’s annual Rebuilding Together event.

“The support for Rebuilding Together * Metro Chicago is truly a firm-wide effort.  Over half of the firm’s personnel dedicate their time and energy to contribute and support this event and the organization. The event provides a teambuilding environment where there is no hierarchy and only one goal:  to give back to the community,” said Kathryn.
